The Snapdragon 7th Gen 2 Plus is significantly better in action compared to the Snapdragon 8th Gen 1 Plus. It offers better battery life and produces less heat. It would be a mistake to choose the 1st Gen for a little bit more performance because when it reaches its heat limit, its performance decreases as the battery drains, and over time, the hardware could be damaged due to these high temperatures.

This is the standard 8th generation 1, NOT the 8+ generation 1. The 8+ generation 1 is significantly more powerful than the 7+ generation 2. The instability of the 8th generation 1 is only evident in extremely heavy workloads like benchmarks, and in a few specific games, such as Genshin Impact. However, in lighter games like PUBGM and CODM, this shouldn't be noticeable. Even so, the 7+ generation 2 is certainly more efficient.

7+Gen2 has a huge improvement over 7Gen1, with advanced power efficiency and the same architecture as 8Gen1, you could think of it as 8-Gen1.

But you're different. You have the Snapdragon 8 with the most powerful GPU. The 7 is a few steps down and it's only second gen.

Guys, the idea of comparing two processors with the same specifications or close specifications, but with a difference in the launch time between them, is a wrong idea. Also, talking about the company that manufactures the processor, whether it is Samsung or TSMC, is wrong because with time processors are developed and companies learn about their problems and companies address those problems, and indeed this is the case. What happened in the SD 7+ GEN 2: Snapdragon addressed the heat, which led to the processor maintaining performance, and they addressed power usage problems, which led to the processor saving energy. I mean, whether Samsung or TSMC manufactured the SD 7+ Gen 2, it would be good anyway.

I've been using the Poco F5 for a month now, and it's excellent for gaming. It's very stable and rarely heats up; in fact, it's probably my hand that makes the phone warm. After four hours of playing COD Mobile, there's about 48% battery consumption, which I find impressive. I play with very high graphics settings and max frame rate, excluding HD.

Yes, I completely agree. The Poco F5 rarely heats up, contrary to what many people have said. There isn't even a need to use a cooling fan. It's truly a beast when it comes to gaming.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is basically a "Pocket Stove" It suffers from overheating, and performance drops horribly even if you play for only 30 minutes, I say this because I had to buy a fan to have more stability when playing on a Poco F4 GT and also another bad point is that the battery is poorly optimized not because of the device but because the processor swallows the battery like there was no tomorrow I guess because Samsung manufactured it and not TSMC.

7+ Gen 2 is just an underclocked 8 Gen 1 to get it's performance with good stability. so if you ask which one better for overall? of course it's 7+ Gen 2, because it's more stable and still have some of 8 Gen 1 traits even though the performance was limited in the "actual" use.

For general use, it's worth using the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 because it preserves the battery better than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. But if it's for gaming, we recommend the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 because it can process better GPUs.

I had a Moto Edge Plus 2022 with Snapdragon 8 Gen1 and a Redmi 12 Turbo. In general, both phones performed similarly for daily tasks and video viewing. However, for flagship features like HDMI display and 960+ fps slow-motion, only the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 was supported. Additionally, when given the same cooling conditions, the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 ran Genshin Impact at around 52-59 fps on max settings, while the Snapdragon 7 Gen2 ran at about 38-54 fps on max settings. The main factor that matters for intensive graphic games is the GPU. After reaching a certain CPU performance threshold, the CPU processing for games doesn't make much of a difference, and it ultimately comes down to GPU power.

For budget-conscious gamers, particularly in India, there's no processor that can rival the price-to-performance ratio of the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. When it comes to actual gameplay, who really plays games at maximum graphics quality? What truly matters is the Frames Per Second (FPS).In my case, I'm using the POCO F5. PUBG Mobile has 90 FPS already unlocked in the smooth graphics settings on this device, and it consistently delivers 60 FPS in Ultra HD Graphics. As PUBG is an Unreal Engine game, this performance really demonstrates the capabilities of the Adreno 725. And honestly, we don't need anything more than that - anything beyond would be essentially superfluous, and we don't have extra money to burn.Secondly, the chip you compared - the 8 Gen 1 - falls short in terms of optimization and throttling because it's manufactured by Samsung. Therefore, the 7+ Gen 2 will always outperform it in both the price-to-performance ratio and, crucially, in efficiency and throttling, thanks to TSMC manufacturing. The 7+ Gen 2 is also comparable to the 8+ Gen 1 in terms of architecture and CPU performance. In fact, it's even comparable to the 8 Gen 2 in CPU performance. So, by spending significantly more money, you're essentially only getting upgraded GPUs: Adreno 725 vs. Adreno 730 vs. Adreno 740. But the truth is, not everyone has deep pockets to spare, so for most people, the Adreno 725 is more than sufficient for their needs. Currently, it's the unrivaled king in terms of price-to-performance ratio.

Suryadeep Chattopadhyay, What do you mean when you say it's comparable to an 8+ Gen 1? Essentially, a 7+ Gen 2 is just an under-clocked 8 Gen 1. So are you saying that a weaker version of an 8 Gen 1 is the same as an 8+ Gen 2? It baffles me why people go to such lengths to delude themselves.

Suryadeep Chattopadhyay, What about the Dimensity 8300? It's significantly cheaper than any current budget gaming processor and is practically on par with 8 Gen 2 performance at 1.3 million AnTuTu. It's amazing how time has enabled the creation of such cost-effective chips that offer the same performance level as a flagship processor.

I think 8 gen 1 will come on top, owing to the fact that it has a much superior SoC modem, x65 vs x62 in 7 gen 2 which would ultimately matter in day-to-day usage of 5g phones and utilization of 5g speeds.

The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 dominates here, even though in previous benchmarks, the Adreno 725 GPU had a performance gap compared to the Adreno 730 of the 8 Gen 1. However, when it comes to consistency, the 7+ Gen 2 takes a massive lead. In the Genshin Impact test, the 7+ Gen 2 maintains an average of 51 FPS consistently, while the 8 Gen 1 drops from 59 FPS all the way down to 30 FPS. It's incredible how quickly technology changes.
